He’s 53, Gay, Mormon, and Coming to Grips. There is going to be Chaos.

There is so much I want to say about the letter in today’s post. I am just going to let you read it and my response. But I want to have a little fun first. Coming out of the closet is serious and it is not easy and no matter how careful you are you hurt someone. Generally those you love and those who love you. There is no easy way.

Auntie Mame, my life muse said, ” Oh, Agnes! Here you’ve been taking my dictations for weeks and you haven’t gotten the message of my book: live! ….. click to see short clip…… Yes! Live! Life’s a banquet and most poor suckers are starving to death!”

This video from last night, is my husband, and our two best straight buds, and me singing after the Vikings lost. We are living. Living in ways I never dreamed would feel so right to my very inner core. Can you imagine, those of you coming out what that feels like? Throw all your burning bosom experiences aside. When your right with you, your right and your life’s right.

As you see me and my husband and straight buddies. We are living. You can too!

The Letter From Florida!

Hello , I am finally coming to grips , about being a gay Mormon . This is not something I would ever do . I must be honest , I did not serve a mission . So I suppose I am (not) fit to even contact you . I do have two reasons . I have worked and been around Missionaries since age 12 . I am now 53 .

I have prayed and fasted about my feelings about other men . I am indeed though more attracted to Missionaries . I felt more able to feel their strength in Spiritual and physical ways . I have prayed so hard and long to be free .

But as hard as I would try , more opportunities would come to make it worse . Changing clothes after sports on p-day . I live in the tropics . They get hot and sweaty . So we go to their place , and they shower and change . No matter how hard I try . I see one or more Elders at least twice a week .

I don’t act gay nor look it , I have a wife , whom I adore . and 3 children . 7 grandchildren . But when a new Elder is transferred in . My first thought is to wonder . How he looks shirtless . Then I honestly stop there .

But I do know I will see all of him in the next week ..my other reason is . that an elder just confided in me . And told me he was having a hard time . He had seen him naked and he cannot stop thinking about him . He had already , gone through the step program about Masturbation .

He ” confessed ” to me . I felt so sorry for him that I cried . . He is extremely good looking , and kept hugging me , and crying . I was sorry for him and his grief . I was sorry for myself and mine .

Sadly to say he was rock hard and kept saying he was sorry. I have kept a journal about my attraction , I have told him about he groups that are availiable . He told Prresident today that he is gay . and he is being sent home to Brisbane.

Sadly also , I have enjoyed your posts and stories . I am sorry for intruding . I will tell Neal to message you if that is permissable , Thanks Chuck, Orlando Florida.

My Response:

I am so sorry I did not see this message. I hope you are doing well. You are always free to contact me. My partner and I read your message last night. It came to me via FB email. I am not an active user of my FB email account.

The one thing I can tell you is that this is not an attraction. This is who we are. I can completely understand your attraction to missionaries. Part of the problem with closeted behavior is that we get fixated, almost to the point of fetish, on the fantasies that we use to arouse ourselves.

Part of coming to terms with being gay is also addressing normative adult sexual relations. Straight people follow a given life plan and enjoy a very sexy view of each other as they age. As gay people, we miss those stages of development the longer we stay closeted.

Our sexual development can remain fixated on our pubescent fantasies, because we never actually lived a normative young adult sexual awakening.

We miss our first kiss, our first date, going to prom. Holding hands on campus. All the joy of young budding love. It’s all normal, you saw it in every hetero sexual relationship.

We all have to go through the steps of our own sexual awakening to get us to an age appropriate sexual maturity.

I want you to understand that. Because I am going to be direct.

Your in a place that could cause a lot of drama in a lot of peoples lives. I know your natural desires to be gay are overwhelming. So I am going to ask you to set some boundaries, so no one gets hurt.

If your going to act your urges and engage in gay sex, don’t do it with missionaries, don’t do it with anyone in your ward, don’t do it with your in-laws. Don’t do it at work. Remove the drama from the lives of those you love and contain it within the gay community.

There are Gay Support Groups at most colleges and in most cities. Google your city and gay and see what comes up.

Then attend, introduce yourself, go to a gay bar or meet men online. Do what every straight person does who is a sexually active person your age. That may mean you sleep with a lot of 20 year-old’s while you go through the steps you missed.

I came out at 36, Lord knows I had an epic sex life. The rest of the world is. Your straight bothers and sisters in your ward are having epic sex lives. When were closeted we have epic fantasies. That can get stuck on replay in our heads. We got to get past that. Your gonna have fun working it out.

But don’t do it within the church, or your friends, or at work. Everyone you love is going to have to accept you when you come out. The less scandal you cause the better.

Our hearts broke for you as we read this. Both of us lived many years closeted. I was 36 and Bill was 49 when he came out. We live a blessed life. You will find your blessed life. It is going to be tough and heart breaking.

We both thought we were to old to enjoy a normal gay sex life. We both did and the journey made us happier.

I made a lot of mistakes being closeted. Things you can never really take back, things you can only forgive yourself for. Sleeping with a missionary, that would have been icing on my cake. I never went that far.

We love our Mormon identity, even after we leave, we love it. If your going to come out or cave to your natural desires. Don’t hurt the people who love you the most. Don’t make this any harder for them.

There is plenty of men waiting for you in your local gay community. Get involved. Go volunteer at the local gay marriage office. Join a gay soft ball team.

I hurt my family in ways I never imagined. You just can’t control the way others respond.

Sorry if I was to forward, but I know the pain I caused. Today, yes it was worth it. We are all in much better places. But it could have been better, much better.

I want for you a much better path than I had and that starts with being involved in the gay community as an adult. Their are plenty of young guys into silver foxes. In fact their is a bar in London, filled with us mature men and the young guys that love us.

Good luck, write anytime!

Here are a few links to national groups:

Human Rights Campaign A National Human Rights group that has coming out resources.

Affirmation  supporting LGBT Mormons, their families, and allies by encouraging spirituality, providing information resources, and working for equality

The City Of Quebec  A Bar In London, England
One of London’s oldest traditional gay pubs, attracting one of London’s oldest gay clienteles. An impressively large and provincial-feeling establishment on two floors — including a basement where younger men dance to 80s chart hits — the Quebec has long been both affectionately and sneeringly referred to as the ‘Elephant’s Graveyard’.

“I Can’t Change, Even If I Tried, even If I Wanted Too”, I tried for 17 years, I prayed, I cried.

For 17 years I hated who I was. I worked almost everyday to try to change who I was. I wanted desperately to change. I tried desperately on a daily basis. I wrote about it in my journal for 5 years. I wish I had known all those years ago that ultimately I would fail. My failure broke my heart night after night.

I was failing myself, my family, and my God. That was all I understood and that was not fair.

When I was at Brigham Young University completing my studies to be a clinical social worker. I was taught a very important lesson about homosexual relationships. This was not long ago. I graduated with my MSW in 1998.

The teachers asked me to imagine myself old kissing another man and to imagine the revulsion I would feel once the excitement of sex wore off. They taught that Gays and Lesbians are trapped in an unsustainable relationship. That two men or two women could never spend their life in love with each other.

The picture the Masters of Social Work Program at Brigham Young University portrayed of GLBT couples was one of disgust. I know I was there. I sat in those class rooms heated with discussion over the state of Hawaii proposal to pass gay marriage.

The Mormon church was more worried about losing federal funding if gay marriage gets legalized than they are about the lives they destroy with their archaic beliefs.

Those words in the lyrics of this song are true, “I can’t change, even if I tried, even if I wanted too”.

When I stopped trying to change my life exploded with excitement and love. I found a love so divine within myself I was amazed and that love, real love still flows today.

Now, more than 12 years after the divorce and more than 10 years in a relationship with a man. I see the beauty we offer each other. The companionship we share. It all started in Hawaii 10 years ago.

Bill and I have been in love for over a decade, “I can’t change, hell I why should we?”

Please share this video……let’s change the way people view gay and lesbian couples.

PBS Frontline “Climate of Doubt” Our Climate Change Attitudes Are Calling Us To Repentence

The one thing us Americans all need to repent of is denying climate change. Last night I watched PBS: Frontline “Climate of Doubt”

The one thing we should all agree on is climate change. Only in the USA is the work of trusted scientist doubted. Last night I watched this PBS special and I am sad that American’s minds are so easily bought. When you see the actual change that money that bought in the minds public opinion you will be shocked.

As a person with two under graduate degrees and masters degree, I understand the rigors of research, the level of scrutiny that must accompany published science in journals. Scientist who do research and are measure our planet do so under heavy scrutiny among their peers before we ever even see it. Whether in print or some other form of media.

When we have agreement among 98% of them, those who actually work on this science that means something. It means we had better pay attention. It is not their opinion, it is science.

In every country in the world the climate deniers are a very few radical fringe element, they are the whack jobs, except here in this country. To me that has always been astounding. I am not even going to go into the science or the credentials of the 2% of scientist that doesn’t matter.

As Americans, we are wrong in this. When you watch this special and you see how this message of not trusting climate science, I want you to be honest with yourself, listen to your heart and listen to the planet. We don’t always have to be right. I am often wrong on a lot of things. It is embarrassing when I am, but I always feel better when I am authentic.

Give yourself permission to be wrong on climate change. Give yourself a moment to forgive yourself for being a climate denier.Give yourself a moment to trust men and women who work hard everyday as stewards of the planet Earth. Looking at what you and I are doing to this planet. To the air we breathe, to the water we drink, to the soil.

These people went to school for almost a decade studying and learning how to accurately measure and study our planet. Are we sure we want to trust the interest of corporations who want profits over the health of our planet. I think we can have both, but only if we all take a moment and ask ourselves what we really want.

I want the truth in all aspects of my life. I reject having my opinion bought and this PBS special shows exactly how bought we are.

Romney the Mormon Muslim Appeaser, “What He said”

Romney foreign policy, “What he said”. A complete embrace of Obama’s foreign policy. Romney ready to lead from behind.

I am going to bottom line this, Obama was consistent and Romney completely acted like Muslim appeasement is his plan and that he can get the Muslims on board with him. I am going to be frank, Romney can’t convince anyone he knows a thing about foreign policy, he looks like he is a fish out of water and he acts like a buffoon.

If anyone thinks that sitting across from Romney is going to be convincing to world leaders, especially Muslim world leaders. They have got to be living in a fantasy. Romney was so weak he demonstrated he can not negotiate or debate with a real world leader, and one was sitting across from him. The public was in front of him. Romney did not even have a high school understanding of how money is procured for Military spending.

Every position that the right wing media (Rush Limbaugh) fed his foreign policy agenda during the election, he abandoned and he acted like he read my blog on how to treat the Muslim next door. That must have stunk to high heaven to you strong anti-Muslim oh no sharia law is flooding the USA there is a war on Christmas low information voters. Who are you going to hate now, Romney is a Mormon Muslim appeaser.

Aside

I just saw an anti-Muslim photo showing Muslims praying with the caption, “Allah please help us kill the Jews and their supporters”. What is the point of this? At some point we have to stop being assholes to our neighbors. There are Two million Muslims living with us and they pose no threats, despite our right wing fringe who whips the uniformed into a frenzy with fear.

Muslims are our neighbors. This type of juvenile behavior needs to stop. It does not say, ‘I am a good Christian please sit at my table break bread with me”. It says, “Fuck you”. I don’t know about you but the last time someone treated me that way I was not very happy and I certainly did not feel welcome.

At some point each of us had to stand up and say enough, we have to say, ‘I am no longer going to speak ill of Muslims. I am going to live with my Muslim neighbors, as my Muslims neighbors, so they see and feel how wonderful our way of life is and that they desire to embrace it the way I have’.

I am going to smile and offer salutation to every Muslim I meet. I am going to encourage my friends to welcome them into their homes and lives. I am going to encourage them to stop spreading fear about Muslims. I am not going to hold every Muslim I meet accountable for the actions of al-Queda on 9/11.  al-Queda are the terrorist and they happen to be Muslim, just like all the Irish terrorist were Christians. Every terrorist has a religious connection. Of the 65 mass shootings in this country in the last 30 years more than 80% were done by Christians.

It was a mistake for the media and the politicians to link terrorism to Muslims and not directly to a fringe group of Muslims. It has damaged our relations with Muslims for more than a decade. It was bad propaganda. It is time to reject bad propaganda.

I am not going to be afraid of Muslims, because someone on the INTERNET told me to be afraid. I am not dumb. I knw the fringe are dangerous. I have had a man from Pakistan in London tell me he wanted to take me to his country and that he would take great pleasure in killing me. I have personal experience as a world traveler with the extreme fringe of the Muslim faith.

That does not change my determination to be apart the healing that needs to go forth between the our culture and theirs. I have worked with Muslims lived next door to Muslims, lived behind Mosques, and done business with Muslims.

I have spoke directly and plainly with Muslims about their views on the western societies and they have clearly told me time after time, they live here because they feel safe here why would they want to change anything. They talk about Islam being a faith of love and beauty. They talk of killing being totally against the will of God.

They are hostile towards homosexuals within their faith but have a live and let live outside their faith. They could improve. I hope that by my not fearing them and engaging them in my life that their views change.

We can’t keep harping on a few lines of text in their holy dogma anymore than we would the crazy dogma in our own holy books. At some point we have to say enough. Your my brother, your welcome here as you are.

We have to grow up, we have to own our bigotry. We have to be able to say, the hostile postings and hostile messages we write are only adding fuel to the fire. Each time we engage in anti-Muslim behavior in the name of free speech, it just pisses them off.

Look how angry we get if someone simply says, “Happy Holidays” instead of “Merry Christmas”. Suddenly there is a war on Christmas and the media floods the airwaves and people buy buttons and bumper stickers proclaiming “Don’t take the Christ out of Christmas”.

Are we really surprised that burning Korans, protesting Mosque, and all the anti-Muslim propaganda causes riots in the Middle East?

I don’t want laws passed to make us each stop hatin on Muslims. I want us each to own it and stop it.

Just make a personal commitment to stop being asshole to Muslims, stop engaging and spreading anti-Muslim propaganda. Have respect for our neighbors. Treat them with the dignity our Christian grandparents taught us.

It is time we all grow up and treat Muslims as we want them to treat us.

What A Mormon Thinks About Muslims

Aside

When I read what Deeanna wrote on Mormon Stories Podcast, a group in Facebook based on Mormon Stories Podcast it inspired me to put my feeling on Mormon racism into words. Not the history, there is a link for you to look into that. No one disputes that Mormons had a racist past, but how we deal with issues that were proven to be false that were followed in the past and how issues today that are proven false and are still embraced by church leadership. Take the threat to straight marriage

This group Mormon Stories Podcast are real life Mormon’s dealing with real life issues in the church. People like me who have long left, people like my close friends both still int eh church and those out of the church learning to deal with each other and let the leaders poison us against each other.

Most Mormon’s bury their head in the sand and are to fearful to discuss openly as we do in the group. Of course I changed her name and it is a private group with 2600 members who openly discuss real issues like this. It is a riot. But it is extremely serious. Mormon culture is imprinted on our very soul even after we leave, Deanna is in the process of dealing with questions of church history that are challenging her:

I’m trying to find an answer for why the members don’t have to believe and follow some teachings in the past (that have been dis-proven or are controversial), but all the other teachings they still do. And how does a member determine whether a teaching is still valid and what the current commandments and doctrines are? How do we determine when a prophet or apostle is speaking as a man or speaking directly from God? And why is it okay for God to change his mind so much? I’m confused about how the God today is so different from the God only a few decades ago, not to mention the God of the Old Testament.

When I read what Deeanna wrote I instantly thought of Mormon Racism:

Click here to read a balanced Mormon Church History of Racism as Taught by Mormon Prophets of God

I think the LDS church’s position on blacks in the church and brown skin Lamenites being cursed is more indicative of the times the church was born in and less from God. It is so clear that the prophets of the church’s history from Brigham Young to Kimball taught racism in the words of ‘Thus say the Lord’ and were divine bigots on this issue than divinely inspired.

That is not being ugly that is being honest. Racism is ugly if you want to go there. It is ugly today, it is ugly yesterday, it will be ugly tomorrow. Mormons are no different than any other church when it comes to racism they were just real late fixing it.

That is the problem with modern prophets in a modern religion where everything is only a 150 years old. can’t stop selling your following the old story without acknowledging you aren’t really talking to God. At least that is how I see it.

You don’t even have to dismantle the Book of Mormon’s claims to prove that these men were simply men, the actual native Americans are from Asia so clearly they were not middle eastern, DNA solved that. But the Men of God taught openly and vigorously that black people would not be allowed into the kingdom of God. Then the great walk back.

I joined the church in 1983. When I questioned the missionaries I was told simply that Lord had revealed the change. I was not taught that Mormon President after Mormon President taught that blacks would not be anything more than servants in the celestial kingdom.

You know when your a Mormon, you call the stuff you teach a new Mormon Gospel Essentials, basically the streamlined invented truth or invented new direction for the church. You don’t even tell new members that they are going to be wearing funny underwear in a year.

Gospel Essentials is code language for, “If we taught you the truth, you would be blinded by our actual history and call us on our shit”.

Let me make this clear, had I been taught the information that is located in the above about the true history of Black people in the Mormon Church I would not have joined. By being taught only the Gospel Essentials and discovering years later the actual history of blacks in the Mormon church is dubious at best and is actually deceitful.

If your asking someone to dedicate every fiber of their being to the church for the rest of their life they deserve to know the whole truth up front.

Had I read the history in the link  above about Mormon Prophets and their teachings on Black People and the Mark of Cain and that Black People would be nothing more than servants in Heaven, I would not have joined. I made a great err in judgement when I joined the Mormon Church.

That does not mean that I was in total misery or that I hate the Mormon People or their local leaders, I just feel that the church deliberately misleads new members and buries its history from existing members. My feelings about my time as a Mormon we summed by beautifully below;

From that same group, Mormon Podcast Stories, a few days ago this was posted from a Unitarian Minister,

All religious traditions are not equal. Some beliefs foster freedom, growth and a deepening of compassion. Others are rigid and exclusive, warning of eternal punishment for those who don’t believe in the one true path to salvation, as they see it, or for those who love someone of the same sex. For the personal support the church of my childhood gave me, I remain thankful. I’m sure many conservative evangelicals today feel similar gratitude for their community. But for the damage that conservative Christianity does to people and for its perpetuation of prejudice and hate, I must reject this tradition. I believe those who teach it and preach it are doing great harm, and I in no way wish to be an ally.”

To a large extent I feel that my time as a Mormon gave me deep insight into a culture from the inside. Though I would in no way support the Mormon Doctrine, the Mormon People are simple and loving and kind and my time with them was a blessed time as much as it was a curse. I am thankful, but that does not rob from me the right to be critical.

I think I can be openly critical of Mormons for failing to fully draw the line in the sand with their church. Mormons today act as if racism never occurred and that the revelation in 1978 is the Lord’s will and that it is stupid to look beyond that.

They question your sanity if you see their is a problem and they claim there is some dark spirit coming from you. Simply because you spoke the truth. Mormons see truth differently, but that is their right. We don’t have to let them get away with it.

Black people, prior to 1978 could not even be sealed to their families.Their is only one record of a black woman being sealed as a servant to Joseph Smith to reward her for her service to him and his family but this was not a common practice.

Surely it can’t be that hard for Mormons to see that if there was a God that God would not punish generation after generation of black people with the Mark of Cain and that the people we live with daily in our lives, our black and brown brothers and sisters would never have been kept out of heaven by a real and loving God.

I just don’t get it. How can people swallow all the bull crap in just that one area of the church? More importantly, how did I for year after year after year. I did from 1983 till 2000.

I’ll be honest, it was because I belonged to the Whiteside, it really did not affect me. Now, being honest, looking back at my blatant racist behavior, at my blatant Whiteside blinders, I am disgusted in myself. I waited to long to walk away on just this one issue.

It was completely racist of me to stay a Mormon once I learned the truth. For me there would be no way a God would treat his child differently based on skin color. There was when I was Mormon, because I was not discriminated against., But once I actually thought critically about this issue, and was no longer hampered by my fears of loss of salvation, which is a scary fucking thing to contemplate for Mormons, it is their core identity, once I got over that myth and faced myself critically I could not look in the mirror an be Mormon.

Everything else is icing on the cake for me, for most members they might not see it that way. I will tell you as a member who left 12 years ago and the predominant part of life is filled with non-Members, Mormons are a joke on this one issue. An open joke. Even those who are voting for Mitt Romney and are GOP find this entire divine racist past a joke.

Being a Mormon is frankly swallowing racism fully and completely. Now I am not saying you should leave the church because of this, but I am saying you should make it known that you and those in your family who have reviewed church history and have come to the conclusion that I came too, that these men were just following the racist sentiment of the day.

You need to proclaim it in your journals and at family home evening that your church was wrong and you simply don’t know why and it bothers you and you are glad they changed it. That is the only thing you can say. Nothing else matters.

There was nothing inspiring about the Mormon Prophets and their words in relation to their views on black people and the way Native Americans are portrayed in the Book of Mormon. It is simply disgusting that the church members have allowed the.

I, myself was captivated by Mary Sturlaugson Eyer triology of books beginning with A Soul So Rebellious. I went to her firesides three times and got her autograph and met her on several occasions.

I bought the mysterious reason that we don’t understand for the people who were cursed with dark skin to be kept from the gospel. I think every Mormon needs to just own that your leaders, our leaders, were full of crap.

That is what the rest of the world sees it as. That is what I see it as and I lived with it for 17 years of my adult life. I made excuses for it, I read those words and pushed them away, until I could no longer lie to myself.

I own that I swallowed racism as part of my membership in the church and today it makes me sick to look back and see how gross I really was. How gross that unfounded hatred was.

Bottom Line on Mormons and Their Racist Past: I was Whitesided when I bought their Racist Crap.

Why am I Democrat? You can’t be a true Christian and Vote GOP, at least that is my feeling

For me when I became a Democrat in the mid 1990’s it was because I finally saw the connection between my Christian Values and my vote. It was like everything the Democrats stood for aligned with what I understood to be true from the Bible and from the life of Christ.

I saw that the Democratic Platform consistently matched with the sermons I was hearing in Church and from Jesus words in the Sermon on the Mount.

I know and love lots of people who I believe are good Christians, who are GOP followers. I just don’t think they have thought about it in the same terms as I do and I don’t think their life experience places value on the same aspects of humanity as my life experience does.

It is not a judgement. We all look at things through lenses of our own lives. It just is. It used to be a judgement though. When I was a Mormon, I was convinced that Mormon GOP voters were not rue followers of Christ. How could they be and it is well documented that only 5% of any faith actually truly understand their faith and practice it at the level of the 5%. So I left that assumption years ago that Christians actually have insight into their faiths, it is more likely they are just members of the home team.

It was readily apparent that the Gay issue was simply an issue that the GOP was using like abortion to whip extreme Christians into an non-thinking frenzy.

As a Christian-Mormon, I believed and was taught about free agency. It seemed simple to me. If I did not want gay marriage, which was a real issue for me, I could do as i was taught and stay out of one, literally and politically. I chose to be straight. Of course that did not hold water. It was the same with abortion, if I did not participate in one I was not accountable for those who do.

Maybe I was a sophisticated Christian-Mormon. I got it, I got that we should not judge others and by setting up laws we set up judgments. It seemed to me the GOP was really only interested in Christians votes and in manipulating their belief into a frenzy of unrestrained uniformed ignorance who would like lambs to slaughter do their political will with very little progress on actually making their issues laws of the land.

It dawned me many years ago that ones faith is largely a matter of ones zip code not ones true understand of their religion. If your born in a Muslim Zip Code your Muslim. In a Mormon Zip Code, your Mormon. in the USA, your some type of Christian. I was some type of Christian and I decided the Protestants approach to Jesus and politics  and science fit my approach.

It does not matter where your born you are a follower of the religion of the region. In the USE we have a lot of Christian choices and few other choices.

In a nut shell, I saw in the Democrats what I saw in Jesus. They help feed the poor, help to build the schools, seek for healthcare for all, look for ways to to help the homeless, value civil rights for all populations, don’t restrict access to voting, preserves the fundamental rights of freedom for all religions, not just Christians.

Democrats were the best logical choice for me as a Mormon and a Christian who practiced what he preached.

To me they were the party that was less like to jump into conflicts without having actual reasons not tied into the exploitation. They were the party that valued science and physics and the our planet earth.

They cared for the elderly and the children. To me everything the Democrats stood for was everything Christ stood for, because those things, those were the real concerns of Christians in the Bible. I decided as a middle class American I would side with the people, not the corporations.

I viewed the GOP as the party of war, or the oil companies, of union busting, of dismantling the middle class. I never bought the claim that they were the party for Christians and Family Values when all they wanted to do was push their own idea of what those people should behave like. For me I saw the Sermon on The Mount and I saw the GOP party platform decade after decade being anything but friendly to families.

That is how I viewed it. To me as a Christian, I did not feel the need to vote with the so called Christian Party as my Mormon’s friends would say I should because I saw right through the unholy alliance of corporate interest and fringe Christians.

Prior to that I was a Rush Limbaugh ditto head and a Fox News Junkie, who jumped on every conspiracy theory like it was candy.

What I saw in the GOP was a party that was ruled by corporate interest, Democrats have special interest groups, but not ones like the corporate and church interest groups. When my church started trying to influence my vote and my views in ways that I thought were anti-Christian, ways that placed the weakest of our citizens in vulnerable places, that is when I stood up and said, as I Christian who values life and all of God’s children, I can’t be a GOP member anymore.

For me it was about being true to my real beliefs of truly understanding that people are not looking for handouts, that corporate America created this BOND with the GOP 40 years ago to bring in voters who prior to them were Christian Democrats. The 700 Club and those Churches and the GOP cooked up this alliance to go after abortion, gay rights, and all the crazy fringe (Evangelicals, Mormons-they only came to be accepted, Independent Fundamental Baptist, all the extreme Christians religions) Catholics and Protestants did not buy it. I did not buy it 25% of actual think Mormon’s don’t buy it.

But the GOP crafted the alliance with the Far Christian Right so the GOP could get more voters because they were loosing the battle for the will of American People. We the people were tired of their antics.

But the GOP got in bed with the fringe, the rest of the country moved on and the GOP and their corporate connections that are all corporate bought have never cared for the people but they roped the crazies right into them. For me it came down to who my own special interest line up with.

Does it line up with Greed? No It lines up with my initial values as a Christian. That is why I am always surprised that real Christians vote GOP whose interest are all about money, control , judging others, and have nothing to do with what Jesus taught.

When I left Christianity and a belief in God, those truths, the ones of placing humanity first, that had been imprinted on my soul. The GOP offered me nothing as a Christian.

Here is the Democratic Platform and below I will post the Sermon on the Mount:

MOVING AMERICA FORWARD
REBUILDING MIDDLE CLASS SECURITY
Putting Americans Back to Work
The Middle Class Bargain

To me this reflects the Sermon of The Mount and it reflects my desire to place Humans first I learned from Christ teachings. I may have left Jesus, but I am a Christian and a Mormon by culture and this is an imprint I can’t shake.

Now when Jesus saw the crowds, he went up on a mountainside and sat down. His disciples came to him, and he began to teach them.

The Beatitudes

He said:

“Blessed are the poor in spirit,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are those who mourn,
for they will be comforted.
Blessed are the meek,
for they will inherit the earth.
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
for they will be filled.
Blessed are the merciful,
for they will be shown mercy.
Blessed are the pure in heart,
for they will see God.
Blessed are the peacemakers,
for they will be called children of God.
10 Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

11 “Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me.12 Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

Salt and Light

13 “You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.

14 “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.

The Fulfillment of the Law

17 “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. 18 For truly I tell you, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished. 19 Therefore anyone who sets aside one of the least of these commands and teaches others accordingly will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever practices and teaches these commands will be called great in the kingdom of heaven. 20 For I tell you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees and the teachers of the law, you will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven.

Murder

21 “You have heard that it was said to the people long ago, ‘You shall not murder,[a] and anyone who murders will be subject to judgment.’ 22 But I tell you that anyone who is angry with a brother or sister[b][c] will be subject to judgment. Again, anyone who says to a brother or sister, ‘Raca,’[d] is answerable to the court. And anyone who says, ‘You fool!’ will be in danger of the fire of hell.

23 “Therefore, if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother or sister has something against you, 24 leave your gift there in front of the altar. First go and be reconciled to them; then come and offer your gift.

25 “Settle matters quickly with your adversary who is taking you to court. Do it while you are still together on the way, or your adversary may hand you over to the judge, and the judge may hand you over to the officer, and you may be thrown into prison. 26 Truly I tell you, you will not get out until you have paid the last penny.

Adultery

27 “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’[e] 28 But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart. 29 If your right eye causes you to stumble, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell. 30 And if your right hand causes you to stumble, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to go into hell.

Divorce

31 “It has been said, ‘Anyone who divorces his wife must give her a certificate of divorce.’[f] 32 But I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, makes her the victim of adultery, and anyone who marries a divorced woman commits adultery.

Oaths

33 “Again, you have heard that it was said to the people long ago, ‘Do not break your oath, but fulfill to the Lord the vows you have made.’ 34 But I tell you, do not swear an oath at all: either by heaven, for it is God’s throne; 35 or by the earth, for it is his footstool; or by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the Great King. 36 And do not swear by your head, for you cannot make even one hair white or black. 37 All you need to say is simply ‘Yes’ or ‘No’; anything beyond this comes from the evil one.[g]

Eye for Eye

38 “You have heard that it was said, ‘Eye for eye, and tooth for tooth.’[h] 39 But I tell you, do not resist an evil person. If anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to them the other cheek also. 40 And if anyone wants to sue you and take your shirt, hand over your coat as well. 41 If anyone forces you to go one mile, go with them two miles. 42 Give to the one who asks you, and do not turn away from the one who wants to borrow from you.

Love for Enemies

43 “You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor[i] and hate your enemy.’ 44 But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, 45 that you may be children of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. 46 If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? 47 And if you greet only your own people, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that? 48 Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.

Giving to the Needy

6 “Be careful not to practice your righteousness in front of others to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven.

“So when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.

Prayer

“And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.

“This, then, is how you should pray:

“‘Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
10 your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
11 Give us today our daily bread.
12 And forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
13 And lead us not into temptation,[j]
but deliver us from the evil one.[k]

14 For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. 15 But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.

Fasting

16 “When you fast, do not look somber as the hypocrites do, for they disfigure their faces to show others they are fasting. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. 17 But when you fast, put oil on your head and wash your face, 18 so that it will not be obvious to others that you are fasting, but only to your Father, who is unseen; and your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.

Treasures in Heaven

19 “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. 20 But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

22 “The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are healthy,[l] your whole body will be full of light. 23 But if your eyes are unhealthy,[m] your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light within you is darkness, how great is that darkness!

24 “No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.

Do Not Worry

25 “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? 26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27 Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life[n]?

28 “And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. 29 Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 30 If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith? 31 So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33 But seek first his kingdomand his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

Judging Others

7 “Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.

“Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye?How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.

“Do not give dogs what is sacred; do not throw your pearls to pigs. If you do, they may trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you to pieces.

Ask, Seek, Knock

“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.

“Which of you, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone? 10 Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? 11 If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him! 12 So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.

The Narrow and Wide Gates

13 “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. 14 But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.

True and False Prophets

15 “Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves. 16 By their fruit you will recognize them. Do people pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? 17 Likewise, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. 18 A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit. 19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20 Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them.

True and False Disciples

21 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22 Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’ 23 Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’

The Wise and Foolish Builders

24 “Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. 26 But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. 27 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.”

28 When Jesus had finished saying these things, the crowds were amazed at his teaching, 29 because he taught as one who had authority, and not as their teachers of the law.

Gonna Look Down Your Nose at Me? Write me off? Really you think that’s gonna bother me?

This is an example of one of them letters that you write and you know you want to send but you never should send it.When your gay, you get used to be abandoned by friends, family and churches. That comes with a lot of pain. A lot of people judging you, looking down their nose at you. You get used to it and if your brave and if you forge a head, you fill your life with exciting stuff. That is what I did. I Lived Lived Lived and I am not about to stop. I got another 20 to 30 years of stories to live.

So if you think this is directed at you, it probably is. Just to be clear this is not directed at my ex-wife. I love that GAL! She’s got my back.

Dear (Somebody close to me was looking down her/him nose at me)

Love It! That your so preoccupied with judging me? In (her/him) little world trapped in that square, cooking (her/him) silly cookies spreading lies and hatred, (he/she’s) miserable and has not done a damn thing with (her/his) life. I did something with mine even though I was a HIGH SCHOOL DROP.

I joined the Mormon Church, I met a beautiful Mormon Girl and we waited till we were married to have sex. You didn’t did you? I served a Mission, I married in a Mormon Temple. We had four amazing children. I got one hell of an education. I earned a GED, an Associates Degree, A BS in Psychology and a BS in Family Studies at Weber State University and a Masters of Clinical Social Work at Brigham Young University. I found the courage to bury my grandmother and brother with dignity. I found the courage to face the world head on as a Gay man with no apologies. I shed myself free of the delusions of God.

I met the man of my dreams and we open on of Sacramento’s finest Inn and Spas. We sold that for an unbelievable amount of money and became somewhat what successful equestrian event promoters. I have been to London almost a dozen times, France, Canada from one coast to another, Mexico, Australia …. I became a 1D barrel racer in less than 5 years after not being on a horse in 20 years. I always could out ride your ass. Still do today. When was the last big check you pulled at a barrel race? Three out of four of our children are either in process or completed additional education. I have held on to the man of my dreams for a decade and we are completely gaga over each other to this day.

We have learned to forgive each other and love each other and live like real lovers. Something I never dreamed was possible but it happened. We have been active the GLBT civil rights movement. Together with our children we traveled the world and the country. We have stories to tell, exotic stories. We have met famous people, shared meals with high level politicians in California. We have lived. I have lived. You call that living, what your doing. I call that pedestrian, anyone can do that.

So yeah sit there with that ill gotten fame, spread your lies and your hate. You have not done a damn thing in your life but criticize and judge others. Am I openly judging you? No just thinking how completely irrelevant you really were this whole time. I lived a BIG life and you were no where to be found.

It didn’t stop me!

I have wanted to say that to a lot of people for a long time, maybe only one person. Felt good to say it. To write, to publish it.

Feels even better to not have identified the person(s) .

I think the most healing thing about these letters is that you get to acknowledge that your life, despite what others may say, is that your life is still your life and you don’t have to let others judgments of you shut you down. There judgements have no bearing on the quality of life you will live in the future.

It certainly didn’t in mine. I lived. Did not have time to miss what was not there.

I worked and continue to work. You don’t live a life like I have lived with out really hard work.

You don’t live the life I have lived without being hurt or hurting others.

Mostly I don’t judge those who have offended me, figure we are all learning about us gays at the same time. I could not face myself for 36 years, how could I expect you to face me. So as I forgive myself for hiding in the closet all those years, I forgive all those who hated me or hurt me. It does no good to hang onto hate. I hurt plenty of people along the way, none of us stand blameless.

I had to learn how to forgive myself, for all the crap being me bought with it. You don’t even know what the word means. You don’t know love.

You say I am lazy and dependent on others? Who the fuck could do what I have done without working very fucking hard?

Not you in your square! Stay there, it’s safe. It’s boring…..its dirty. I see who you really are and I am glad I did not see you anywhere in my big life. There is not room for you!

Mitt Romney’s Influence Felt By Mormon Apologist As The Mormon’s Hunt Them Down and Publicly Excommunicate Them

This is a happening right now in  the Mormon Church with it’s members, those who support and expose the churches influence and control are being targeted and excommunicated……read in their own words or click through to follow the drama….

This Press Release Just E-mailed to Me by “MormonThink.com”: LDS Church to Excommunicate Its Managing Editor for “Apostasy” . . . new

The press release came with this prefatory note:

” . . . [J]ust thought you’d like to know the news (below). We are beginning to talk with the press about this, but could really use a big press contact if anyone has one.”
_____

“LDS Church to Excommunicate MormonThink Editor

“Last week, on September 11, 13 and 15, David Twede, the managing editor of MormonThink.com posted a series of articles on the political history of the LDS Church, as it relates to Mitt Romney’s campaign and Romney’s stubbornness of keeping his tax forms secret as it’s tied with LDS historical policies. As managing editor, David is a life-long, fifth-generation Mormon in good standing.

“Then on September 16, his LDS Bishop, LDS Stake President and two Church executives brought David into Florida Mormon Church offices at the Orlando-based congregation and interrogated him about his writings, telling him, ‘Cease and desist, Brother Twede.’ In a letter hastily typed, they scheduled an excommunication ‘for apostasy’ on September 30 at 7:30am, to remove David from the LDS church.

“During the interrogation, LDS leaders chastised David for not publishing his full name and hiding his identity in order to avoid discipline. To the leaders, David insisted that, ‘In my heart I believe I am championing truth as I know it as managing editor of MormonThink.’

“The next question from them was: ‘Who are the other individuals you work with on MormonThink?’ They denied that they are on—in their words—’a witch hunt’ but they continued demanding that David answer ‘If people are truly interested in truth, as you say they are, then why would they hide their name or who they are?”’

“David asked them why now, and how did they come up with his name so fast after posting the articles. They wouldn’t disclose this. He’s since heard that a Mormon apologist tied to the BYU affiliated FAIR alerted leaders in Salt Lake City, with David’s identity.

“The quick action is being kept quiet by the LDS Church. Despite the harm it may cause him with his family and friends, David has decided that the public should be aware of what is happening within the walls of the Mormon Church to those that dissent during this ‘Mormon Moment.'”

Mormons Get a “get out of jail free card” this week. Mormon’s don’t believe Bible is the LITERAL Word of God, only 2.7 Million Americans do!

We believe the Bible to be the revealed Word of God, fully and verbally inspired of God. We believe the Scriptures to be the inerrant, infallible Word of God, as found within the 66 books from Genesis to Revelation. We believe that God not only inspired every word, but that He has preserved them through the ages. We believe that the King James Version is the preserved Word of God for the English-speaking people. (Psalm 12:6; II Timothy 3:15-17; I Peter 1:23-25; II Peter 1:19-21) International Baptist

This week the Mormons get a “Get out of Jail Free Card”, Mormons don’t believe the Bible is the word of God. Mormons like most mainstream Christians, have gotten over the actual history of the Bible. For Mormon’s and most Christians, they accept the historical facts of origins of the Bible. Most Christians understand the basic history of the canonized Bible originated during the Third Century. Whether you use the King James version or the Catholic Bible or any of the modern bibles, they all owe their origin to Bishops of the Catholic Church of the third century.

So to make the claim that the King James Version of the Bible, as is done above by the International Baptist, is a fascinating claim and one that I think bears exploration.

For two reasons.

1) There seems to be a strong movement among the Baptist and Evangelicals to influence our politics and it would be nice to know how these people arrived at such an extreme claim in light of the actual history of the Bible?

2) If just under 3 million people believe this, how prepared are they to answer basic questions of their faith? So far they have given me silly answers. Click here on my Facebook Link to read them or at the end of this post I cut and copied the entire response from these faithful followers.

With this in mind, lets consider that in this country there are 2.7 Million International Baptist, Southern Baptist, and Evangelicals that have the extreme belief that the Bible is the sole word of God. What I copied pasted and linked above is their actual belief?

For my Mormon readers and for most Christians with any amount of education or familiarity of the Bible, we chuckle at how uniformed people who believe that. With 2.2 Billion Christians and only Three million of them at the most believing that the bible specifically the King James Version of the Bible is the LITERAL and only word of God.

It is not a rude chuckle or an attack on the education or faith of the individual, it is mostly a chuckle of complete exasperation at the inability of people who make this claim to explain how they came to believe that.

How can a faith, like the above mentioned faith, possibly make the above claim?

Often as a blogger and writer, especially as an Atheist, I encounter people who have this top to bottom belief in the Bible. While I respectfully acknowledge that people have a right to believe what they want to believe. I think that if you make a claim, you should be able to answer some pretty basic questions about your claim.

Most of my Facebook friends are Christian Cowgirls of all faiths, there is really only a small number of them that have the actual literal belief that the KJV of the Bible as the word of God. Most modern Cowgirls are pragmatist with a strong libertarian streak. While almost all are Christians, few are extreme Christians, most are live and let live Christians. To me those are the true Christians, the ones that by Christ Sermon on the Mount and witness their faith daily by living nonjudgmental lives of true followers of Christ.

As I write this blog about my life as a Mormon and my journey from Mormon, to Christian, to free thinker, and finally arriving to place where I am certain there is no God. I find the claim that the KJV is the literal word of God as expressed in the statement above puzzling.

2.7 Million people, here in the US believe the KJV of the Bible is the Absolute word of God. I think that if you make that claim, you ought to be able to answer me and every one else exactly how you arrived at that claim.

So this week on my Facebook page I posted the following question:

How is the King James Version of the Bible the LITERAL word of God? There are over 24,000 versions and parchments in both Greek and Latin, who decided which made it to the Bible as endorsed as the Word of God?

Fair enough question, I thought. Fair enough, right? If you are going to make the claim that the KJV is the only word of God on the earth. I want to know a few things.

1) Who told you that?

2) Who told them that?

3) Did God at some point reveal that in a vision?

If you expect me as a non-believer to just accept your word that the Bible is the word of God, what differentiates you from the Mormon’s who told me to read their book and pray? What differentiates the Bible from the Koran or the Torah? Each and everyone of these books meets the same criteria as you are applying to the KJV of the Bible?

I think that Christians who want to witness the Gospel to non-Christians like myself, owe it to me and the rest of the world to have at least an understanding of the actual history of the Bible? I should be able to ask real questions and get real answers to my questions. If you believe that the KJV of the Bible is the LITERAL and only word of God, I want to know the evidence that you used to arrive at that decision. You are asking me to read the Bible, I have 6 times.

It is no doubt a book that has had profound effects on me, but also countless millions. That alone does not qualify it as the Word of God anymore than the literary works of the other great faiths.

The Koran is followed by 1.65 Billion people, in the world and there are 7 Billion people and 2.64 Billion Christians and 4.4 Billion non-Christians.

You can’t expect us, who are non-believers, many who have our own books, to seize upon your Bible, read it and just know it is the word of God with out being asked, “Who told you this exact version of the Bible is the Word of God?”

That is a fair question. One that 4.4 Billion People worldwide and 2 Billion Christians who don’t believe the KJV is the ACTUAL and LITERAL word of God have a right to ask and have a right to get a real answer.

Only 2.7 million Christians actually believe the KJV Bible is the word of God. The almost three million people who made this decision that it is, owe the rest of us your secret how you learned that and how that claim came to be?

You owe us an explanation on how you arrived at that and why we should believe that your version of the Bible, the KJV, is the literal and actual word of God? You say, ‘ Read it, pray about it, have faith?’. Many of us already have and do, or have and done, in your words we are Christ lost sheep.

So I am asking you to tell me how you arrived at the decision to give 100% belief that the KJV is the word of God. That is a huge claim. I want to know how God led 2.7 million people to believe in the KJV is the only word of God on Earth? Surely if you make that claim for God, he must have told this to some one?

If you are going to truly witness the Gospel of Jesus Christ as a Southern Baptist or Evangelical (non-Mainstream Christians), then you need to be able to answer some basic questions about how you and your faith came to believe that exact version is the word of God on earth.

If you expect us to give up our lives and follow your path or be governed by politicians who ascribe to your way of thinking, you owe us a basic history of your movement, so that we can determine if your claims are really God’s desires or just some cleverly worded wolf in sheep’s clothing.

Mormons get a get out of jail free card on this, they don’t believe the KJV is the word of God, they use the KJV as far as it is translated correctly, so Mormons like all Protestant Faiths recognize that the KJV is simply one of the many versions translated from the 24,000 parchments. But the Independent Baptist, many of the fringe Evangelical churches, claim that the KJV is the word of God. I want to know how God communicated that exact belief to the world? Who did he tell first and how did they first spread that message?

I am still waiting for a real answer? But here are the answers left by so many on Facebook Yesterday:

How is the King James Version of the Bible the LITERAL word of God? There are over 24,000 versions and parchments in both Greek and Latin, who decided which made it to the Bible as endorsed as the Word of God?
  • Buz Hall uh King James?
  • William Sawyer but that does not mean that God ordained King James, it just means he decided to put his spin on it.

  • Buz Hall or maybe God?

  • William Sawyer OK, how did God do it? How are we supposed to know it is by God’s authority?
  • William Sawyer This is the claim of 2.7 Million International Baptist in the USA (a dying religion probably because the Bible is just not what they claim) :” We believe the Bible to be the revealed Word of God, fully and verbally inspired of God. We believe the Scriptures to be the inerrant, infallible Word of God, as found within the 66 books from Genesis to Revelation. We believe that God not only inspired every word, but that He has preserved them through the ages. We believe that the King James Version is the preserved Word of God for the English-speaking people. (Psalm 12:6; II Timothy 3:15-17; I Peter 1:23-25; II Peter 1:19-21)”
  • Sail OnSurprise we know it is God’s word by His son Jesus Christ

  • Sail OnSurprise there are some changes that were made to the King James version that shouldn’t have been made. The name of God, Jehovah, has been taken out of the bible over ten thousand time. His name was replaced with a title, Lord, God, etc. and in the bible, Jehovah’s word, it states that whoever ever adds or takes away from this book shall be cursed. I think it is Revelations, but not sure
  • William Sawyer Sail OnSurprise Dude, we can’t even start on what the book says if we can’t determine why it is divine in origin? We also can’t begin to determine if Jesus ever lived if we don’t understand where his story came from. If you believe that the Bible is the LITERAL word of God, then God needs to tell me how the leaders of your faith who wrote that claim are certain their claim is accurate?
  • Sail OnSurprise God has told you through his word. and I am not a dude
  • Buz Hall i guess just strat reading ,if you cant understand kjv swith to nkjv whichever one speaks to you then go with that version ,i come from a Babtist church and we are growing fast we are not dieng out as you say, alot of churches are and i dunno why.our preacher uses nkjv and it works well i think but to answer your question King James endorsed that version in 1611
Sail OnSurprise it is called Faith. It is easier for sane people to understand than the mentally ill
  • Meah Kanaaka Itsuka The Bible is not the LITERAL word of God. It is in some ways an synopsis of his word, what he spoke and did through others. We should remember though, that just because someone taints the word of God, (by omitting sections or adding to something sacred that wasn’t there to begin with), it doesn’t mean we should automatically question whether or nt God actually exists. We should question the motive behind the act made by man to confused Scripture. Man was born of divinity, and that was tainted with sin… meaning it is natural for man now to commit such things. I would say that if any of your reasons for becoming an atheist are because of the prejudice you received as a gay man, then I am sorry. God loves you, whether you’re gay or straight or whether you like to try a bit of everything. No minister, or preacher, or bishop or anyone can take that away from you. Period.
The bible is divine in rgin because it speaks of a time when man himself was divine. It is our history, of how God created what he felt was the ideal perfect image. It is divine because it is in so many ways a historical refence as to where we come from… how we evolved into the society, and the spiritual knowledge we have now. It is sacred… and that is what makes it divine.

  • Meah Kanaaka Itsuka To many people
  • Sail OnSurprise Meah, I could not have said it any better Thank you
  • Lori Everett Hall The “version” doesnt make it the “living Word of God”, He does that! Btw, i am one of those 2.7 Baptist that believes every word from Genesis to Revelation. i couldn’t live without it. 🙂

  • Buz Hall the guy was wanting to talk about the Bible,i think we shoulve left his mental state and sexual preferences out and let God convict him

  • Meah Kanaaka Itsuka Nobody was convicting him at all actually. In fact quite the opposite. Sorry the comment confused you.

  • Sail OnSurprise well I am jehovah Witness and I also believe every single word in the bible. I would not want to even think of living without it

  • Sail OnSurprise I was not convicting anyone, he does that all by himself

  • Buz Hall what is a Jehova witness anyway?

  • William Sawyer Oh really then why is it that when people become more sane they become less religious?
  • William Sawyer pass on the mental ill comment, that was rude, not dignified of a Christian.

  • William Sawyer I think it is a valid question, the origins of the Bible and how it is literally God’s Word. That is a huge claim and I seriously want someone to explain how they beleive that despite evidence and accepted history and 70% of Americans acknowledging the truth, how is it, that the Bible is the LITERAL word of God. Who decided that in the first place?
  • Buz Hall why are yoou even asking about the Bible anyway?
  • Meah Kanaaka Itsuka Religion and spiritualism is not the same. I like to call what your referring to as “waking up into ones conscious mind and out of the mass of confusion”. And I have seen many that do thus, and become so much more closer to enlightenment and their spirituality.

  • William Sawyer Buzz should I ask?
  • Buz Hall why are you?
  • Linda M. Hall I read all of this and believe that religion and politics are better left to your own heart and not argued. Believe in God and his word and everyone wins!!!
  • Buz Hall well i dunno nothin about statistics or politics i do know that the morals and faith in God that the USA was founded on is slipping away at a rapid pace and yes William you should be askin about the Bible if you have questions it just shows me its workin

  • Linda M. Hall Agree Buz!

  • William Sawyer I think that it is fair if someone is going to claim the Bible is the Word of God,to ask by what authority that claim comes from.

  • William Sawyer from 24,000 documents to one, how did the one become the one?

  • William Sawyer If you expect me as a non-believer to just accept your word that the Bible is the word of God, what differentiates you from the Mormon’s who told me to read their book and pray? The Koran is followed by 1.65 Billion people, in the world there are 7 Billion people and 2.64 Christians and 4.4 Billion non-Christians. You can’t expect us who are non-believers, many who have our own books, to seize upon your Bible, read it and just know it is the word of God with out being asked, “Who told you this exact version of the Bible is the Word of God?” That is a fair question. One that 4.4 Billion People worldwide and 2 Billion Christians who don’t belief the KJV is the ACTUAL and LITERAL word of God. Only 2 million Christians actually believe it is the word of God. You two million people who made this decision that it is, owe the rest of us your secret. You owe us an explanation on how you arrived at that and why we should believe that your version of the Bible, the KJV is the literal and actual word of God? You say, ‘ Read it, pray about it, have faith?’, many of us already have and do, or have and done, in your words we are Christ lost sheep. So I am asking you to tell me how you arrived at the decision to give 100% belief that the KJV is the word of God. That is a huge claim. I want to know how God led 2.7 million people to believe in the KJV is the only word of God on Earth.

  • William Sawyer If you are going to truly witness the Gospel of Jesus Christ as a Southern Baptist or Evangelical (non-Mainstream Christians), then you need to be able to answer some basic questions about how you and your faith came to believe that exact version is the word of God on earth. If you expect us to give up our lives and follow your path or be governed by politicians who ascribe to your way of thinking, you owe us a basic history of your movement so that we can determine if your claims are really God’s desires or just some cleverly worded wolf in sheep’s clothing.
  • Buz Hall well what else is there? the answer to that question is in the book itself for you to find.
